McQueen used many sources for inspiration, always beguiling the viewer with his ability to use fabric and materials to convey an array of textures and visual delights with his creative edge puncturing through in his unique use of the familiar to unnerve the viewer provoking the voyeur in us all.

His love of feather and plume is demonstrated in several iconic McQueen designs, his love of texture and nature is demonstrated in his works from the Savage Beauty 2011 Show.

His tragic death in 2010 left the world one creative genius short, his creative ideas and influence live on in the work now carried forward by Sarah Burton, Head Designer for McQueen and now custodian for The Alexander McQueen design label.
